The story behind City Sightseeing

Chances are you’ve seen the Hop-on Hop-off buses before. City Sightseeing Berlin’s buses are red and therefore impossible to miss. Berlin City Sightseeing is part of City Sightseeing Worldwide. The franchise concept was established in 1999, but the idea had already taken shape a year earlier. In 1998, market research was carried out in Seville. This revealed that tourists are more likely to choose a familiar brand in a new location than something unknown, a brand they are familiar with and which offers the same service and quality in different locations. City Sightseeing was founded and the buses were given the distinctive red-and-yellow livery. Now, some 28 years later, City Sightseeing’s red buses operate in around 100 cities across the world. In some cities, there are also HoHo boats.

Experience Berlin’s most famous landmarks

As well as the famous red colour, the yellow details and the illustrations on the sides of the bus, there is another key feature of City Sightseeing buses. The upper deck of the bus is open. This gives you an unobstructed view of the city and allows you to look 360 degrees all around you. You can easily take photos and videos whilst fully experiencing the atmosphere of Berlin in the open air. If the weather isn’t great, the roof can be closed. So whether it’s raining or the sun is shining, travelling on the Hop-on Hop-off bus is always an option!

People often say: “The journey is more important than the destination.” This ties in perfectly with the concept behind City Sightseeing’s Hop-on Hop-off buses. A Hop-on Hop-off bus isn’t just about travelling from one place to another, but also about the journey itself. Along the way, you’ll pass the city’s highlights and discover sights you certainly won’t want to miss during your visit to Berlin. Precisely because you see and discover so much of the city during the ride, on a Hop-on Hop-off tour the journey is just as important as the destination.

Sightseeing in Berlin at your own pace

Ready to discover Berlin? Hop on the Hop-on Hop-off bus, enjoy the views and explore the city’s most beautiful spots at your own pace. With a 24- or 48-hour ticket, you decide where to get off and how long to stay at each stop. Book your ticket and start your journey of discovery through Berlin!
