See Berlin from Above at Panoramapunkt
Looking for the best views of Berlin? Panoramapunkt is the perfect place! Located in the Kollhoff Tower at Potsdamer Platz, it offers stunning 360° views of the city. The elevator is the fastest in Europe, and takes you up in only 20 seconds, so you'll get there in no time.
Step out onto the open-air observation deck, 100 metres in the air, and spot some of Berlin’s most famous landmarks: the TV Tower, Brandenburg Gate, Victory Column, Berlin Cathedral, the Holocaust Memorial, and many more. Nowhere else can you see so many of the city's historic and architectural highlights in one place. Keep your camera and binoculars ready!
Panoramapunkt: More Than Just a Great View
Along with the views, you can explore the open-air exhibition Berlin Views of Potsdamer Platz. This multimedia display walks you through the rich and complex history of the square. Potzdamer Platz used to be an empty plot, after being destroyed in World War II, where the city was divided by the Berlin Wall. Now it's a modern square, but it used to be empty land full of landmines, to keep citizens from escaping East Berlin. You can explore this history in the exhibition, and see the landmarks for yourself below.
Depending on the time of day, you might catch the sunlight shining onto the tower’s golden spires, known as the “Crown of Berlin.” Head up one more floor to the sun terrace for even more breathtaking views of West Berlin. Then relax at the Panorama Café under a glass roof, and enjoy a nice coffee and cake while you admire your photos.

On reading how expensive the Fernsehturm was to visit, and how busy and packed it could be, we decided to visit Panoramapunkt instead, for a third of the price. It’s really just the top two floors of a very tall building directly on Potsdamer Platz, but the fact that you’re whisked up to the top in mere seconds in, apparently, Europe’s fastest lift and the views all over the city are excellent, made it very worth our time. The viewing area goes all round the building, so you can see Berlin from all directions. In addition, there were interesting displays showing what the area was like before and after the war. We stayed about an hour (we didn’t bother with the café) and thought it was a great experience and pretty good value at only 7 or 8 Euros each, which included a couple of Euros discount if you have a Welcome Card. There is a ‘VIP’ option which allows you to skip any queue for the lift, but when we visited in the mid afternoon of a weekday in August, there was nobody waiting at all, so it was unnecessary to consider being ‘very important’! Recommended.
Visited Panorama Punkt last week, March 2024. The view from the building is amazing and worth seeing Berlin from such a great height and the information provided was excellent. However, our visit was to the Cafe was not so pleasant. We had booked the Cafe ticket, a cake and a coffee. When we entered the Cafe we were kept waiting at the counter while a gentleman stacked glasses and left us standing there. Then he abruptly told us to sit down and he would come to our table. When he came take our order, he noticed our Cafe coupons and asked for our order. We ordered two cakes, a coffee and a tea. He quite rudely told us that the coupon said 'cake and coffee' - we could NOT have a tea instead, he would bring two coffees and we did not have to drink the second one!! We were quite taken back with such a ridiculous rule, so rudely delivered. So we had to go to the counter to order and pay for a cup of tea separately. I cannot imagine what the big issue is between a tea and a coffee?? It was a really disappointing end to what started out as a great experience. Perhaps the people in charge could reconsider this very bizarre and slightly petty rule.
Visited on a cold November day, just as the sun was setting. Loved seeing the city change from day to night. Would definitely recommend, the views are spectacular, and also check out the cafe. I had a nice hot chocolate to warm up afterwards. Lifts are amazingly fast too.
Great overview of the city from two floors, accompanied by old photos and historical facts about Berliner Mauer
Definetaly reccomended to see the whole city up above! With europe’s fastest elevator, you can reach at the top in no time :)
Man blir nästan lite andäktig.
