The DDR Museum is an educational but also interactive experience, with many objects from actual DDR residents and institutions. One of the many highlight is a life size DDR prefab apartment with actual objects, so you can see how people lived. Also included is a Trabant driving stimulator, with which you can race through the streets of East Germany. Also included are authentic school materials, a closet full of DDR closes, and real materials from the State Police and other government institutions.

The exhibition is fully interactive, you can touch most objects, and walk through real recreations of DDR buildings, for an up-close view. Interesting for all age groups, the museum comes with information with which both people arriving for the first time and history buffs can learn from. The museum has been nominated for the European Museum of the Year award twice, and is the most popular among international visitors, so definitely a quality experience.
